The City of St. Charles offers financial assistance programs to support private development projects that align with its goals of fostering a strong business climate and promoting community growth. These incentive programs are designed to address specific financial gaps in private projects that would not be feasible but not for financial assistance. The City’s approach involves a careful, case-by-case review of each request for assistance, considering both the long-term financial impact and the broader community benefits. The various incentive programs can be utilize by existing looking looking to expand and to attract new businesses or developments. The City offers incentives in the form of grants, Tax Increment Financing, and Sales Tax Rebate.

Economic Development Policy

The City of St. Charles has adopted a formal Economic Incentive Policy that provides guidance and a detailed process for developers or businesses interested in financial assistance. Certain types of assistance, such as creating a TIF District, are State regulated processes and properties must meet these eligibility criteria to qualify. Contact City staff for more information. Financial Assistance Requests

The City requires the submission of formal applications for financial assistance to consider an applicant's request.
