Vice President of Human Resources & Sustainable Development, Julie Reiter, talks on the choice to make St. Charles the location for Clarke’s headquarters. “St. Charles is known for its vibrant and supportive community that values local businesses. The city offers a pro-business environment, backed by resources and support from local government and business organizations. Equally important to us is St. Charles’ alignment with our commitment to sustainability.” While their headquarters may be in this city, Clarke’s efforts span the globe, having served over 2,000 United States communities, as well as over 50 countries. Their broad selection of public health mosquito control products has been utilized to respond to national disasters such as hurricanes, floods or mosquito-borne disease outbreaks, like the Zika virus.

Their passion for the planet is evident. While it’s easy to see through their mosquito products and equipment, sustainability is at the front of their minds with everything they do, including their building. Their St. Charles headquarters was awarded a Silver Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification. “Our vision for our LEED Platinum facility has always been to create a space that promotes healthier communities – within our community of coworkers. This vision has been significantly elevated through the support and partnership of the City and its community members,” said Reiter.

Along with their environmentally responsible mosquito control products & services that they offer, Clarke’s impact can also be found through their extensive philanthropy in the communities that they serve, and St. Charles is no exception. In fact, on average, Clarke coworkers average 18.5 hours of volunteering each year! One example of this is their involvement with St. Charles community events, such as the St. Charles Fine Art Show, where they have had members of their team onsite educating visitors on what is recyclable and what is not. “Our mission is to make communities around the world more livable, safe, and comfortable. As part of this mission and our commitment to sustainability, we are dedicated to giving back to the communities where we live and operate,” said Reiter. “Partnering with the City and the St. Charles Fine Art Show is a truly rewarding experience for both sides.” With all this in mind, it is clear to see that they put environmental accountability into every aspect of their business.
